11 Seasonal Fall Planters Ideas
Fall planters are a wonderful way to bring seasonal charm and warmth to your home’s outdoor space. This list offers creative ideas for window boxes and container gardens, blending classic favorites like mums and kale with unexpected plant choices to keep your fall decor fresh and inviting.

When the weather cools down and the summer blooms start to fade, I love putting together a few fall planters to keep the garden looking fresh and colorful.
There’s just something about the mix of mums, ornamental cabbage, and trailing ivy that makes everything feel cozy and seasonal.
The best part is that fall containers are so easy to pull together.
You can go bold with cascading chrysanthemums, keep things soft with heather and dusty miller, or even tuck in a few pumpkins for extra charm.
Here are some of my favorite fall planter ideas to inspire you this season.

In this tall fall planter, I paired some pink mums with burgundy fountain grass and silver Dusty Miller.
I love how the tall grass adds movement while the Mums keep everything cheerful and the Dusty Miller adds some contrast.
It’s such an easy fall planter idea, and the Mums actually come back every year so I don’t have to replant them.

And the trailing greenery keeps it from looking too stiff.
Striped gourds and a lantern at the base tie the whole thing together for an easy fall decorating idea.
6 | All dressed in red

Talk about drama!
The fiery red pansies steal the show here. While the foliage of the deep burgundy Heuchera and ‘Burgundy Glow’ Ajuga co-ordinate perfectly.
And displaying them in front of ferns and evergreen foliage creates a contrast that really makes the red stand out.

These cascading chrysanthemums in gold, red, and white make the whole space glow with fall color.
These are regular Mums that have been planted sideways and trained to grow downwards. But I think the effect is definitely worth it!
8 | Gourds and fall plants
